Hermannskogel-run 2014

The 8-th edition of the annual Hermannskogel-run for geodesists attracted a record number of 17 participants tackling the infamous 280 m elevation gain along the 3 km track from Weidling to the fundamental point of Austrian surveying at the Habsburgwarte. Hobby orienteer and geodesy student Marcus Franz Glaner came first at a sublime 15 minutes 11 seconds, bettering the previous “geodesist course record” of Michael Schindelegger by 34 seconds. Six of the other runners finished at sound times below 20 minutes. After the sportive part, all attendees (including those having walked up from the nearby Cobenzl) enjoyed the panorama view from the Habsburgwarte before coming together at Gasthof Waldgrill for dinner and the customary award ceremony.
